Six-pointed star made of bronze, in the center of the obverse there is a round shield with a royal GRI VI monogram and a royal crown, in the circle the inscription (The Italy Star). The medal ribbon has 5 vertical bars, in the middle a strip of green color, then on the left and right side white color stripes, the last two stripes on the left and on the right the red colors, these are the colors of the Italian flag.

The set consists of two documents, a rectangular “legitymacja” for wearing the decoration, issued by the commander of the 1st Polish Railway Battalion  to the senior sergeant Marian Zając. Together with the document there is a certificate confirming the right to wear the Star of Italy.

 A souvenir of a rare unit; 1st Polish Railway Battalion that was part of the 2nd Polish Corps.
