More info

A set of medals after Bombardier (private) B. Piłat, born in 1911. Soldier of the 5th Light Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment, 5th Kresowa Infantry Division. As a soldier of the 2nd Polish Corps he fought on the Italian front, among others in the Battle of Monte Cassino.

The set consists of

  • Polish Monte Cassino Commemorative Cross Number 23276

  • Polish Cross of the Polish Armed Forces in the West (damaged).

  • British Star for Africa

  • British Star for Italy

  • British Star 1939-45

  • British War Medal

On the reverse of all stars engraved soldier's assignment to the unit and name, it is extremely rare to find stars with engraved name and data, especially Polish ones.

The card suggest tha B.Piłat took part in the Siege of Tobruk, however no proof was found and this requires further research.
